Today I accessorized with sneakers and a ponytail in order to hit up the Harris Teeter Super Doubles, but otherwise, it was yet another sick day. Not really rocking the 30 in 30 at the moment, but thinking healthy thoughts for tomorrow.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Ah well, a day late and a couple dollars short....

I apologize for the picture below, but my charming husband is out of town (For V-day!) and I just can't bring myself to let the two year old take over. Therefore we have this lovely bathroom picture.

Nothing new this time, I took the romper from here and the red shirt from here and my black ballet flats and mixed them all together. Or should I say remixed? ;)

Miscellaneous: What's your policy on jewelry from the frogs in your past? Once you meet and marry Prince Charming do you toss the old stuff or keep wearing it?

So, um....I'm posting a day behind as it were, which means I actually wore this on Friday. Which in turn explains the very extreme lack of red or anything else Valentine-related. Although if you squint your eyes you can see a bit of red peeking out over my boots. Vintage socks even, yet another hand me down from my mom!

This outfit felt fantastic when I put it on, but now that I look at it, I'm really questioning the footwear. I was so excited to wear something other than black, that I just don't think it works here. On the other hand, layering the sundress with a long-sleeve shirt worked great! So a partial success. :)

My mother is notorious for keeping every single thing I ever played with or wore as a child. Benefits of having one child and four attics I suppose. The upside is that I haven't had to buy a lot in the way of toys for my kid, she just gets to play with mine!

Another quick comment is that this shirt is actually pink. I have no idea what's making it read red, but I promise it's pink. It also has a lovely back that opens at the top, which explains why my hair is in a bun. Alas Yorick, we'll try again tomorrow.

Humorously enough I wore a similar color scheme on the same day for last week. Which means I have more in my color palette than I thought! I'm now up to white, black, gray, red and blue. Wait til tomorrow, who knows what'll show up?

Miscellaneous: I got the blue ring from an ex-boyfriend years ago as a gag gift. It's an enormous glass piece surrounded by lots of "diamonds." Definitely not understated!

At this point I'm just embracing taking photos in the playroom; it's bright, it's yellow and it's a whole lot nicer than being outside! Plus, the handmade hearts add a nice touch dontcha think?

Miscellaneous: I think my husband is going to regret this project - my "Clothes to Buy" list keeps getting longer and longer. After trying on today's outfit, I decided I needed a skinny belt, preferably black but possibly a bright pink one too.

If you get an outfit idea from someone else is it considered an homage or a rip-off? Depending on your perspective I'm "homaging" quite a few folks here. I rolled the sleeves of my white shirt (it's actually a 3/4 cuff, so it's only rolled once) with the red sweater to add a bit of flair to an otherwise normal/boring outfit. Simple but effective.

I love this dress and really wish it had photographed better. Guess it was just too early to coordinate between the photographer, myself and the chef (that's her ironing board/kitchen on the right). The good news is that I'll have time to get it right by the end of the challenge!

Remember yesterday when I said I was a Plain Jane jeans and a tee kind of a gal? Today's outfit is the perfect example of that.

I will say that I chose the shirt as a last ditch "I haven't worn this yet this season but I don't want to have to get rid of it" sort of thing. Obviously, it's not doing me (or my chest) any favors. Alas.

One of my goals for this challenge was to try and step outside of my comfort zone and try new things. They might seem simple to some, but for me (a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl) almost everything is new!

Above I've layered a black t-shirt under the blue which seemed to just make the outfit seem more polished. I've also tucked in the shirt and added a belt which was really strange for me. I'm really not a belt person at all. In fact I only own two and have had them both for about six years. Which just sounds sad...

Day One of the 30 in 30 challenge!

Before I get to the outfit, I do want to state up front that I'm a mom and so my kid's probably going to pop up pretty often. For some reason she's having issues with my husband taking a picture without her in it. And so, here's the first outfit with bonus two year old!

Introduction of sorts

I'm Misc Jenn, the writer of this poor neglected blog that's been sitting pretty since Jan of 09 and completely untouched. A blog without a purpose which is ironic given the name. But no more! I have finally been bitten by the blogging bug and so will begin the Great American something or other.

While I'm figuring that whole thing out, I'm going to write about my attempts to rock out to the fantastic 30 in 30 challenge hosted by Kendi Everyday . The purpose of the challenge as I see it is to take 30 pieces of clothing (tops/bottoms/shoes) and remix them into different outfits for 30 days. This way a) your closet appears MUCH bigger and b) you break out of the same old, same old pattern.

Thus far I have picked my thirty items, discarded half and started over. Right now I'm hovering around 28 with two still up in the air. My goal is to have them all settled by tomorrow when the challenge starts for reals.

Lesson learned: I own way too much black clothing.
